“เคลือบ” มีหน้าที่อะไรบ้าง

What are the functions of “coating”?

There is a question as to whether it is necessary for a workpiece to always be glazed. The answer is no, or it could be said that anyone who wants to glaze can. Anyone who wants a slightly raw ceramic work can choose not to glaze, which is not a problem. However, if you have chosen to glaze, the first thing you should know is what the glaze's function is.

Although glazes can be colored, colorless, clear, translucent or opaque, the functions of these glazes that appear on the workpiece in a thin layer are as follows:

  1. The workpiece must have a smooth surface, without pores, and help prevent water and gas penetration.
  2. Want the workpiece to be easy to clean
  3. Coating to increase the strength of the workpiece
  4. The shine on the piece helps to enhance its beauty even more.
  5. The coating helps prevent scratches on the surface of the workpiece to some extent.
  6. To have certain special properties such as electrical , optical and demi-magnetic properties.

In this regard, coating is divided into 3 types according to the temperature at which the coating matures:

  1. Low-fire glaze, which is a glaze that matures at temperatures below 1150 ° C.
  2. Medium heat glaze, glaze that cooks at a temperature between 1150-1280 °C.
  3. High fire glaze, glaze that matures at temperatures of 1280 °C or more.
